Green garlic grows early spring, making it a younger and somewhat milder than other garlic s. Before garlic grows into separate cloves, it starts out as a green plant, with a stalk, leaves, and shoots. Because of it’s milder flavor compared to most garlic bulbs, the edible green stalks have an onion-like flavor that can be eaten both fresh in salads or cooked.
