3 oz total: 1 oz each of our Porcini, Shiitake, & Maitake powders.
Porcini: Porcini mushrooms are low in fat and digestible carbohydrates, and high in protein, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. Porcinis have been described as nutty, smooth, creamy, toasty, full-bodied and more and are are prized for their depth of flavor. Furthermore, they hold a distinctive aroma reminiscent of sourdough.
Shiitake: Shiitake contain that unknown 5th flavor known as umami- not sweet, sour salty, bitter, or salty- simply “deliciousness”. Savory and toasty, the shiitake’s flavor goes great in gravies, soups, pasta dishes, and much more. Seen as a symbol of longevity in China, shiitake are well known for balancing out the immune system.
Maitake: In addition to being rich, earthy and spicy with just a hit of fruitiness, maitake contain a natural flavor enhancer known as L-glutamate which makes any dish just a little bit more intense. In vitro research has shown Maitake can induce apoptosis in various cancer cell lines as well as inhibit the growth of various types of cancer cells. In 2009, a phase I/II human trial, conducted by Kettering cancer center, showed Maitake could stimulate the immune systems of breast cancer patients.
